How it is built.
Material cause

Soft soda-lime glass, COE 104 (Murano-compatible): garnet cased over amber for the skin, gold-ruby for the seeds, clear for the inner globe. Brass canopy and internal frame; braided cord.
Formal cause
Morphē: its form and measure
16" D. The split is about 7" long. About 300 seeds, each ½" to ¾", fused onto a clear inner globe that holds the light; the outer skin is cut and fire-polished at the split, and the two are joined on the brass frame.
Efficient cause
The Guild's makers: who makes it, and how
Glassblower for the skin, calyx and inner globe; flameworker for the seeds; metalsmith for the canopy and frame; UL wiring.
Final cause
The client's use: what it is for
A dining pendant. The pomegranate stands for abundance and was everywhere in the Renaissance, from Florentine silk damasks to the Madonna's hand. Dimmable LED, 2200–2700K.
