IThe Book

A Passport for the Country of the Mind

A passport records where you have been. This one records what you have read and understood: each territory crossed, each work finished, in a book that belongs to you alone and grows more valuable the more it is used.

I

Private

Your record, kept by you. It holds your notes, your dates and your stamps, and it is shown only when you choose.

II

Stamped

Every stamp is earned. The house strikes it when you finish a work, so a page of stamps means a shelf truly read.

III

Numbered

Issued only to Citizens, in order. Carry it to a symposium and other Citizens will know where you have been.

IIIThe Territories

Seven Territories, a Spread for Each

From ethics to politics in the order of the Guide, with the theoretical sciences between: mathematics in its four branches, the sciences of nature, and the divine. Each spread is printed in the pigment of its discipline, names the branches you will cross there, and keeps the stamps of the works you finish.

What the Paper Hides

Every page carries a second printing in ink that only ultraviolet light shows: the land in neon, the seal, a line of microtext. Move across pages 08–09 to light them.
